Help! I want to repair my Credit.?

My Credit Score is bad, and I want to buy a home. I received a Credit Report Should I start paying companies that have been on my credit report or should I call to make payment arrangements? If Please help. I can not have anything in my name I will marry soon and I know my credit is in fact engaged. Advice? Are there services that help for free? Webs?
